Bladeless LASIK

(LASER ASSISTED IN SITU KERATOMILEUSIS)

This procedure takes Laser Vision Correction to the next level.

A femtosecond laser is used (instead of a mechanical microkeratome) to precisely prepare the corneal flap ready to be lifted so that excimer laser treatment can be applied to the corneal stromal bed. The rest of the procedure is completed in exactly the same way as standard LASIK.

The femtosecond laser offers more consistent LASIK flaps than were previously possible. It also allows for greater flap customisation, where necessary, for individual patients.

As implied in the name, this procedure is carried out without the use of any blades.
